CCWS's varied programming includes contemporary pieces written for wind symphony as well as traditional band favorites, marches and some jazz things too!

Its performances include unusual presentations with talented guest artists, as well as invited guest conductors. And it enjoys collaborations with other arts groups.

Symphony No. 1: New Day Rising
 

In celebration of the Wind Symphony's 25th season and in recognition of the centennial of San Francisco's 1906 great earthquake and fire, Steven Reineke was commissioned by CCWS to write a major symphony. This reprise performance was conducted by Brad Hogarth.

 
Danse Bacchanale


​Saint-Saens' lovely and exciting Danse Baccanale from "Samson et Dalila" was performed at the Lesher Arts Center in Walnut Creek CA on May 21, 2017. Arranged by Leigh Steiger. Brad Hogarth, CCWS Music Director and Conductor.
 
Gloria


CCWS was joined by members of the SF Gay Men's Chorus on Dec. 12, 2011 at the Lafayette-Orinda Presbyterian Church in Lafayette CA. This  new work, "Gloria", was composed by Randol Alan Bass. Conducted by Dr. Timothy Seelig.
 
 
Gandalf from the "Lord of the Rings" symphony

Mvt. I (Gandalf) of Johan de Meij's Symphony No. 1, "Lord of the Rings" was performed Oct. 29, 2011 at the Lesher Center for the Arts in Walnut Creek CA. Gandalf was portrayed by Mr. Richard James. CCWS had earlier performed the full Symphony featuring artistic interludes with James and members of the ClaytonArts Academy.
 
Seville Suite Highlights

​Highlights from The Seville Suite. This was a U.S. premiere performance by the CCWS Mar. 10, 2013 at the Lesher Center for the Arts in Walnut Creek CA. Bill Wehlan's composition was arranged by Johan de Meij. It featured Ron Bowman, soprano saxophone soloist and members of the Dillon Moore Irish Dance Academy.
 
At Kitty O'Shea's (Clip)
Johan de Meij's At Kitty O'Shea's: Irish Folk Song Suite was performed by the CCWS in the all-Irish concert Mar. 10, 2013. It featured a number of instruments not often seen in a wind ensemble, including harp, guitar, accordion, the Irish Penny Whistle and Bodhran drum. Plus dancers from the Dillon Moore Irish Dance Academy.
 
The National Game

​The National Game
is a less-familiar, yet traditional march by John Philip Sousa. Performed by the CCWS May 3, 2013 at the Lesher Center For The Arts in Walnut Creek CA.
