concert featured award-winning Dutch composer Johan
de Meij's
Symphony #1: The Lord of the Rings. Composed well before
the movie
was
produced, this major work for Wind Symphony expresses de Meij's
musical
impressions of the grand novel by J.R.R. Tolkien. The Symphony is
internationally acclaimed. This performance included dramatic interludes
and narration. Additional pieces by de Meij rounded out the evening's
program.
