ClaytonArts Academy

ClaytonArts Academy is a 4-year integrated project-based program that specializes in combining the arts with English and the Humanities. It is a program of Clayton Valley High School in Concord, California. Students take 4 years of English and social studies while specializing in drama, art, photography or video. They utilize their arts in their academic classes and eventually go out into the community, with mentors, to create projects in a "real world" setting. Last year ClaytonArts students won the Odyssey of the Mind World Championship, and this year two separate teams are competing at the world level again.

Students performing in Contra Costa Wind Symphony's presentation of Johan de Meij's Symphony No. 1: The Lord of the Rings on May 30, 2003 were:

Krystal Brautigam (Frodo)
Zach Fester (Gimli)
Tyler Magleby
(Gollum)
Erika Barraza, Ryan Cook, Mary Lenz, Drew Salzborn, Shawna Swanson, Dan Terborg (Orcs)

Kellie Kenney (Costume & Make Up Design) is a junior at Clayton Valley High School and is a two-time winner at the Ohlone Theatre Festival for her costume designs. She specializes in drama at the ClaytonArts Academy and plans to seek a career in costume design for the stage.
